They're here!

Some of you already know that I've had a difficult time finding certain foods here in Denmark. After visiting the US for a month, I got a little spoiled having health food stores, gourmet food stores, and of course Wal-Mart just a few minutes away. I even became addicted to Beanitos Black Bean Chips.

Unfortunately, I will never find those here. However, I have finally managed to find black beans. I searched high and low for these babies. I had heard that you can sometimes find black beans here, but until recently that proved nearly impossible.

If there's anyone out there in Denmark wanting black beans (or anything else organic), I've found Helse Basen.

They've got tons of items, at pretty good prices. I purchased 3kg. of organic black beans, and got them for a grand total of 138 DKK (that includes delivery charges) for those of you who count US dollars that's a grand total of $27, give or take a few cents due to the fluctuation of the dollar.

They even threw in 2 individual tea bags for me to try.

Next on my list of foods to find, tomatillos. I have a feeling this one will be impossible.

  1. I remember when I lived in Sweden for a bit. I hated that I couldn't find everyday items, but LOVED all of the neat stuff they had they I never saw before. When you get a chance, would love to see some of your favorite products there that they have and we are missing. The packaging alone is soooo cool. When I first saw Parmalat in the US (some 10-15 years later) I almost died.

  2. Kathy, I will definitely start taking more pics of Danish products! Been trying to think of some things to do. I think I will be doing bread soon.
