Chevron Bulletin Board

Back in December I was at the second-hand store (my second home) and I picked up a few bulletin boards. They've sat collecting dust and waiting for inspiration for the past 6 months.

Well, I finally found it!

I'm not really sure where the idea came from, I just knew I needed to do something. While browsing around on Pintrest I decided to look for some inspiration. I know that yellow and gray are really hot right now, and so are chevrons. I thought I'd search for "chevron bulletin boards". Much to my surprise, there were very few. So, I decided to try my hand at it.

Starting with my boring bulletin board, I taped off the edges

and began to paint.

I forgot to take a picture here, but to get my chevron pattern I took 2 pieces of printer paper (A4 size - slightly longer than 8.5 x 11) and cut it half, and then in half again. Like this.

Make it as long or as short as you need.

Then trace it onto your bulletin board. I used a fine tipped washable marker, but it doesn't matter too much because you will paint over the lines.

Then tape it off.

Now paint your stripes (to keep the paint from bleeding paint your base coat over the tape where the edge of the border is before painting your color), and remove the tape when finished.

I wasn't quite happy with how bright the green was. So. I decided to add some yellow to break it up. I ended up with this.

What do you think?

Fits perfectly with my white and yellow orchids in their bright green pots and my dracena in it's dark gray pot.

  1. Adding the yellow is such a clever choice, the effect look much fun and and the blue and green look more harmony. And what a green finger you have... the orchids are simply gorgeous!

Thank you too, Rene'! It wasn't quite what I had imagined in my head, but I'm quit pleased.
