I've been yearning for some apothecary jars of my own, for way too long. In my little dream world, I would have a plethora of sizes, shapes, and colors. Of course, they would be filled to the brim with candy (or whatever) in colors that coordinate with my decor.

I will (likely) never have anything quite like that, but who says I can't make my own?
They're all over the place, everyone seems to have their own versions. Mine are nothing spectacular, but they're mine.
To begin, you will need a cheap (or recycled) jar, glue (not pictured, but you will need something like E6000) and a candle holder. Be creative with colors, sizes, and shapes.
Make sure they're clean. With the lid removed, flip the jar upside down. Apply glue to the top of the candle holder and place it onto the bottom of your jar.
Make sure it's centered and for extra measure, add more glue around the 'seam' between the two pieces.
Now, you're gonna have to be patient for a while, I let mine dry overnight. Depending on the materials you're using, you my need to add some weight to hold them together. My candlestick is pewter, and rather heavy, but I added some extra weight for a few hours.
After the glue is dry, it's time to decorate. This is entirely up to you. So embellish (or not) as much as you please. **If you want to change the colors of the lid or candle holder, I suggest painting prior to assembly.
I left mine silver and used a chalk pen to write on it.
What do you think?

love it! What a great idea I've always wanted some of those to and now I may just go make my own. Thanks Laina!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Emily! I've lucked out here in Denmark, everyone donates candle holders to the second-hand stores. So, I've got a never ending supply, for cheap!
