Baby news, and a trip to Aalborg.

Hans and I have a new niece! I got a text message from Hans earlier this morning letting me know that our sister in-law, Mathilde, has given birth to a baby girl! We will be going to visit them either tomorrow or Saturday, and I will get pictures to share with you then.

For now, I'd like to share with you the pictures we took during our trip to Aalborg on Sunday.
Fountains at the shopping street, just across from the harbour.

This is Hans' brother Jens, his wife Mathilde, their son Jonas, and the yet to be born baby girl. (We don't know her name yet, it was a secret.)

Is it just me, or does he make a short person feel even shorter?

This thing is a wind machine. It simulates varying degrees of wind, from a gentle breeze to a hurricane. You stand in front of it and push the buttons to change the speed and get blow away. I could stand there and be amused for hours, I'm sure.

This is the Aalborg Castle, not your stereotypical castle, but it was quite pretty.

Here is the monogram of the Danish King Christian IV.

I loved the doors entering into the castle courtyard!

After the walk across the courtyard we stumbled upon an injured bird. Not sure what was wrong with it, but it appeared to have 2 broken wings.

We continued walking and stopped for ice cream at Cold Stone, yeah they have them here in Denmark! From there we walked up the shopping street. There was a beautiful building with this amazing door. It happened to be for rent, but Hans wouldn't let me have it.

We stopped for a moment so Jonas could use the phonebooth. He needed to call his dad, who picked up the call in the phonebooth right next to Jonas'.

We continued down the part of the street with all of the bars/resturaunts. And I found this place.

Who knew that lady liberty also resided in Denmark?

After walking around for a while we returned to Jens and Mathilde's house, where Maja (one of Mathilde's sisters) was busy preparing dinner.

The first priority on Jonas' list was to get naked and play in the water. It had rained heavily before we had gone out, so there was a wading pool on the patio.
He kept going back anf forth between his pool and the patio, filling up his watering can with the water from the pool, and then emptying it onto the patio.

We had a wonderful time visiting, and it was fun eating in the wading pool. It was such a warm day that the cold water felt nice on my hot feet.
